Letting Up Despite Great Faults - Alexander Devotion

Letting Up Despite Great Faults haben seit ihrer Gründung 2006 zwar erst drei Alben veröffentlicht „Letting Up Despite Great Faults“, 2009, „Untogether“, 2012, und „Neon“, 2014), streuen aber immer wieder EPs ein. There's a little more of an experimental feeling, or a freer approach to songwriting. I hadn't written anything in maybe a year so I felt like there was a lot of rust to shake off but also I wanted to push myself to do new things. I think an EP was a great mindset for me to explore who I needed to be."

Perfectly formed dream pop, the band's hazy gauze filters all manner of colours into a wonderfully speckled songwriting palette. Unafraid to capture darker emotions, Letting Up Despite Great Faults match a literate edge to some pointed melodies. New EP 'Alexander Devotion' is a diverse return, matching new ideas against their immediately recognisable sound.(Clash)

Along the way they've released a series of albums that have worn their way into the hearts of the blogosphere and beyond, with new EP Alexander Devotion maintaining their uncanny knack for a pure shot of woozy summer heat delivered in the form of effortless, instantly catchy guitar pop. There are hints of New Order, Slowdive and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart in among their sweet hooks, as perfectly and irresistably captured on new cut Pageantry.(The Skinny)

New track “Pageantry” is indicative of such notions, a propulsive four-minutes that mixes shimmering waves of guitar alongside a languid vocal that seems to hold everything in place, like the snapshot-memory of some golden day you’re trying to keep dear forever. Underpinned by a gleaming sense of atmosphere that hints at a seasonal sunniness that feels a long way out of reach for many of us just now, “Pageantry” is a beatific pop song of the most woozy persuasion; bright, bold and ready to soundtrack whichever lingering summer memories still remain. (goldflakepaint)
